Description

Antique wooden molding plane, hand-forged with a shaped wooden body and steel cutting iron secured by a wooden wedge, used historically by woodworkers and craftsmen to cut decorative profiles into wood trim and furniture components. The plane is stamped "J. Dawson, Montreal," identifying a Canadian toolmaker, and is also marked with a "1/2" size designation on the end profile. The plane features the traditional horn-style grip at the top of the blade wedge and a shaped sole profile visible on the end. Measures approximately 5.25" H x 1.5" W x 9.5" L.
