Lot 185: Studio Pottery Bottle Vase, Ash Glaze Bands

Description

Hand-thrown studio pottery bottle vase with a narrow banded neck opening into a tall cylindrical body, finished in a striated ash or salt-glaze effect that shifts from a dark charcoal band at the shoulder to a warm rose-pink glaze at the base, with visible throwing rings throughout. This kind of variegated, atmospheric glaze effect is achieved through wood-firing or salt-glazing techniques, prized by studio pottery collectors for the way each piece comes out uniquely marked by the kiln. No maker's mark is visible on the base. Measures approximately 10" H x 4.25" W.

Condition:

Good condition overall. Glaze is intact throughout with expected small pitting/specking from the firing process (see photos). No chips, cracks, or losses noted. Please review photos closely; we do our best to catch all flaws but small imperfections can be missed.
