Lot 202: Antique American Stoneware Vase Salt Glaze, Cobalt

Description

Antique American stoneware vase with a warm tan salt-glazed body, a flared rim edged in cobalt blue, and a matching cobalt band encircling the lower body. This style of banded stoneware was widely produced by American potteries in the 19th and early 20th centuries for both utilitarian and decorative use, and the simple cobalt accent bands remain a hallmark sought after by collectors of American folk pottery. No maker's mark is visible on the base. Measures approximately 6" H x 4" W.

Condition:

Good antique condition. Wear commensurate with age, including light surface scratching to the glaze and expected small pitting/specking from the firing process (see photos). No chips or cracks noted. Please review photos closely; we do our best to catch all flaws but small imperfections can be missed.
