Lot 232: Vintage Turned Wood Dough Bowl, 11 Inch

Description

A large, turned wooden bowl, 11" x 10", in a warm honey-toned wood with a shallow, gently sloped interior and rounded exterior. The interior shows extensive fine scratching and knife marks consistent with genuine food-prep use, such as chopping, mixing dough, or bread-making, and the underside carries a faint ring mark and a small patch of parallel tool marks, both consistent with age and use rather than damage. No maker's mark, brand, or origin stamp is visible, so age and origin cannot be confirmed from photos; the style is consistent with a farmhouse-type dough or utility bowl, but it could be an older piece or a later reproduction. Sold as a decorative/utility wood bowl in the primitive/farmhouse style rather than as an attributed period antique.

Condition Report:

As-found vintage condition, wear commensurate with use. The interior shows heavy scratching, knife marks, and staining consistent with genuine kitchen use. A faint ring stain and a small patch of parallel surface marks are present on the underside (see photos). No cracks, splits, or structural losses noted.
