Small hand-thrown studio pottery pitcher, Japanese, mid-20th century, with a cream/ivory glaze ground decorated on one side with a large stylized flower and leaf motif in amber, brown, and sage green, and on the reverse with a whimsical hand-painted figure of a person balancing a fish overhead, rendered in a folk-art/storybook style with simple outline details. The rim and interior are finished in a rich dark brown glaze, and the piece has an unglazed footring at the base. No maker's mark is visible in the photos, so a specific workshop isn't confirmed, but the hand-painted floral and figural decoration is consistent with mid-century Japanese studio and export pottery of this type. Measures H: 6", W: 3.5", L: 4.5". A charming decorative pitcher with strong visual appeal for pottery and folk-art collectors.
