Lot 39: Mid-Century Rosewood Carved Grape Cluster

Description

A lovely set of five hand-carved and polished wooden "grapes," crafted from rich rosewood or ironwood in the mid-century decorative style. Four grapes display a deep, glossy espresso-brown tone with striking natural wood grain, while one stands out in a warmer reddish-brown finish, adding nice visual contrast to the grouping. Two retain their original curled leather "stems," designed to mimic a real grape cluster when grouped together, likely as part of a larger decorative fruit arrangement. The smooth, lustrous surfaces showcase quality hand-turning and finishing typical of mid-century treen and wood fruit décor. A charming addition for collectors of mid-century modern decor, faux fruit collections, treen woodware, or tabletop/bowl display accents.

Condition: Overall very good vintage condition with a nice retained polish and luster. Two grapes retain their original leather stems (please handle stems with care, as vintage leather can be dry/brittle); the remaining three appear to have lost their stems, as is common with age. Minor surface wear/light scuffing consistent with age and handling, shown in photos. Please examine all photos closely for condition.
