A pair of vintage Sunset Travel Books published by Lane Book Company of Menlo Park, California: "Japan," prepared under the direction of Frederic M. Rea, and "Hong Kong," a revised second edition copyrighted 1969, both illustrated travel guides subtitled "An Illustrated Travel Guide: Where to Go, What to Do, What to See." Each softcover volume is filled with period photography, practical travel information, and narrative descriptions of the featured destination, giving a snapshot of mid-century American travel writing and how these Asian destinations were presented to Western tourists at the time. The Hong Kong volume acknowledges research assistance from the Hong Kong Tourist Association and photographer Lorenzo Lo. Condition Report:

Good vintage condition, wear commensurate with age. Both covers show shelf wear along the edges and spine, with the Japan volume showing some fraying at the top of the spine. Pages appear clean and intact in both volumes.
