Description

Carved marble-composite figure of the Capitoline Wolf nursing Romulus and Remus, on an integral marble plinth inscribed "ROMA," mounted on a black wood base. Base impressed "R. LEONI" and "DEP. LEONI DUE." R. Leoni is a mid-20th-century Italian workshop known for marble-dust souvenir reproductions of classical and Renaissance subjects sold to tourists in Rome.
