Signed studio pottery lidded soup tureen by Bill Reid, dated 1978, incised on the underside "Bill Reid 1978." The stoneware body features a rich tobacco-brown glaze at the base transitioning to a pale oatmeal glaze banded with hand-painted cobalt blue scrollwork, and is finished with an elaborately textured, pierced pedestal foot in a scalloped and beaded motif. Twin loop handles flank the body, echoing traditional tureen forms while showcasing the potter's individual hand-building and glazing technique. The lid includes a notched cutout designed to accommodate a ladle handle, a thoughtful functional detail. Studio pottery pieces like this are appealing to collectors for their one-of-a-kind artistry and functional tableware use. Measures approximately 9.5" H x 7.5" W.
