Set of six fruit knives with brass-toned blades stamped with a small lyre-form maker's mark, each fitted with a porcelain handle decorated in the classic blue-and-white "Blue Onion" (Zwiebelmuster) pattern, a design originating from 18th-century Meissen porcelain and widely produced by German and European makers through the 20th century — this set is attributed to Rheingold. Fruit knives with dull, non-serrated blades of this type were traditionally used for peeling and cutting fruit at the table without discoloring the blade or imparting a metallic taste, since their brass-alloy blades don't react with fruit acids the way steel does. Each knife measures approximately L: 6" with a 3.25" blade. A charming complete set for the table or for display.

Condition Report:

Good vintage condition, wear commensurate with age. The brass blades show overall tarnishing and light surface scratching consistent with age and use. No chips or cracks noted to the porcelain handles. No breaks in the metal-to-porcelain ferrule joints noted.
