Lot 5: Mark Gutow Double-Sided Watercolor Painting

A striking double-sided watercolor on a single sheet of paper — two complete works for the price of one. On the front, a sunlit cottage nestled in a lush green forest, its whitewashed walls glowing beneath dappled canopy light, signed "M. Gutow" in the lower corner. Flip the sheet, and a crouching jaguar prowls across a fallen branch amid a moody, richly layered jungle backdrop of deep greens and burgundy. Both works showcase Gutow's confident, loose watercolor technique — bold washes built up with controlled, expressive brushwork. Mark Gutow is a Missoula, Montana-based artist working in watercolor and oil, whose work has been featured in Missoula's downtown public art program.
